I have been asked a few times before about RSS feeds, what exactly are they and how to use them. Like you need to learn more about the Internet……well, actually this might save you some time.
So I am going to explain the best I can here and add a video too. This video in my opinion explains what is an RSS feed really well, even though it was created a while ago.
RSS – According the Wikipedia
“RSS (most commonly expanded as “Really Simple Syndication”) is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format”
RSS FEED – According to Harvestseo.com
“An RSS feed is a source of RSS updates for a given website. News websites often have RSS feeds from which users can be sent news headlines as they are published
Simply put RSS is only one form of opt-in communication so instead of using an email opt-in or bookmarking your favorite website or blog you would sign up to the RSS of those sites. Of coure RSS has its own unique features.
Still a lot of people have not adopted RSS. Most don’t understand how it works and how using it would make their life easier or save time. The best explanation I found on the web is the video below.
Please take 3 minutes and watch this video. This will enable you to make an educated choice about using RSS or not and if yes then how to use it to get the most benefit out of it.
