SEO stands for??
1. Serenade Each Other
2. Smell Everlasting Odors (phew!)
3. Search Engine Optimization
I guess you probably picked the right one – No. 3. If not you might be more into the serenading mood then online marketing….
So SEO = Search Engine Optimization, BUT what is search engine? We use a whole bunch of words but sometimes we are not sure what do they exactly mean.
From Wikipedia:
A web search engine is designed to search for information on the World Wide Web.
And what is SEO according to Wikipedia, you ask?
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a web site or a web page in search engines via the “natural” or un-paid (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results.
OK, so now that we got that out of the way the question is:
Why should you care about your website’s or blog’s SEO?
Well, if you have a website or a blog then most likely you would like some TRAFFIC, it would tickle you pink if somehow people searching for any related terms, keywords to what you sell would find your website right away. Then at least you have a chance to let them know how you can help them or what great offers you have. Of course you would have to have a logically laid out, easy to navigate, eye-pleasing website to have people stay long enough to find out. It is said you have 3 seconds to catch the attention of your visitor.
You could have a great website and you know you give your customers exceptional service but if nobody finds your site what’s the point? It’s nice to have a vintage car all shined up in the garage but if the engine is missing it’s not going to take you anywhere and nobody but a handful of your friends will know about it. Same with your website.
Applying calculated SEO strategies both on-page and off-page will help you get ahead of your competition and be on your way to Google’s 1st page of search results.
Hope that cleared the fog surrounding the hype about SEO a bit. If you have questions, please leave a comment and I will be more then happy to answer them.
To your success
V.
Hey Viola,
That is very interesting… I would definitely talk to you more about how to do some SEO in my blog! 🙂 Although I don’t have a business necessarily. There is a lot of info that I feel I have learned and a lot of people could relate or learn from..
I don’t have a website yet…..but this is really great information. Thanks Viola
