What does Google want?
That is the question most of us would really like to know but I guess we’ll have to live with bits and pieces and just stick to some general common sense rules.
As most of know or at least heard, Google had Panda, Penguin and Polar Bear updates come out this year….well, OK, I am kidding about the Polar Bear…and now, yesterday, they announced the Disavow Links feature.
If you want to know more about each of these Google updates click on the links because right now I will just talk about general “truths”.
This is what I think Google wants:
Original and useful content on our sites. So I honestly think the days of article spinning and low quality garbage just to fill the page are gone. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. You don’t have to be a prize winning author to write content just have something to say that people would like to read and know about. The average internet user reads at grade 8 level so unless your audience is highly educated it is not even recommended to write at much higher level.
High quality links to our site. Google truly wants us to have genuine votes of confidence. So when somebody links to our site, ideally it would be somebody who is familiar with our business and what we have to offer and they are truly impressed with it. Those are the good links. To understand the difference between good site links and bad links please visit Google Webmaster Tools. They have updated it and have examples explaining what they are looking for.
Hope this helps.
As far as I am concerned the bottom line is, people have to stop trying to cheat Google and start providing quality content. There is still a need to use internal and external links just use them wisely and help the “human” visitor with more info and the search engine little bots will follow and reward.
